Healthy Trail Mix With Dark Chocolate, Almonds And Cranberries

Yoodles, lovely internet people. Now, it’s getting to the time of year where we’re starting to get into Autumn (or Fall, for you beautiful overseas peeps). I don’t know about you, but when the rain starts coming down more regularly than usual (that’s a bit of a record for Britain, to be honest!) I automatically fall (get it? haha I’m such a comedienne) into the chocolate-Digestives-whole-chocolate-bar-to-myself-anything-high-in-sugar routine when I need a snack. I don’t get it! When its sunny (which, to be fair, isn’t very often in England) I’m like ‘yassssss, let me just pull together a super smoothie or an all natural fruit ice lolly!’ but in the colder months it’s ‘blah. Just give me a cookie’. So, to try and banish these unhealthy habits, I’ve created one of my FAVOURITE trail mix recipe. So, without further ado, here it is!

*just a little note. Please feel free to bring in or take out whatever you like, this recipe is very flexible. Also, there are no super duper specific measurements, just eye the amounts!

Dark Chocolate (preferably with a lot of coco content, but I know that can get expensive!)

Small baking tray lined with foil/greaseproof paper

Small tub suitable for  microwaving

2 teaspoons or 1 teaspoon and a toothpick

1. Melt a third of a 100g bar of chocolate in a microwave proof tub. I did it in 20 second shots and stirred every so often.

2. Dip in your almonds or pecans (or both!). Be creative! Dip in just half, dunk it whole, drchocolatepot_lotsoflovelottieblogizzle over lightly with a spoon…whatever you fancy! TIP: If you have any left over chocolate, drop spots of it onto the foil for homemade chocolate chips!

3. Put in the freezer for 15 minutes or so until the chocolate is solid.

4. Gently peal off the almonds and chips and throw in a tupperware box with the pecans, cranberries, raisins and a little bit of salt.

5. And BAM! Super easy snacking! This may be taking it a liiiiittle too far but this would be super cute decor for your kitchen this Autumn in glass gars! Maybe tied off with some twine and a pinecone? Ooooo this is tooo exciting! Also this is a great way to get a sweet and salty treat at school. Just throw in your bag for a yummy snack for lunch!

Are you going to try this out? What are your favourite healthy snacks?

Lots of Love,

New Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ45

Well hellloooooooo there! Today I have some pretty exciting news! Today, I show you a new addition to the family. She’s beautiful. She’s spectacular. She’s a camera. Yup. Now you may or may not know about my obsession with cameras if you haven’t read my July Favourites 2014. Mmmmmm I love me some camera. I present to you, my wonderful internet friends, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ45! (no, I don’t know where they come up with these names):

I know, she’s a beauty. Never in a million years would I think I’d have a camera like this. I haven’t had long to test her (yes, I know it’s sad deciding what gender a piece of plasticy metal is, but hey, that’s how I roll) She has a 24x optical zoom and I may or may not have zoomed in too far when taking a picture of my sister. The final product: a wonderful view of her nostrils. Mmmmm, yummy. I didn’t actually buy the camera brand new, I got her from a friend second hand. I’m all about the charity work! If we hadn’t brought up the subject of buying a new camera, who knows if I’d ever get the chance of getting a camera like this! I honestly feel so lucky. Here are some comparisons of my new camera and my old digital camera, a Nikon Coolpix S3200. The Coolpix was great when you got a good picture, the ones above were taken by it. But when you don’t get a good picture, it’s not pretty.

I found the Coolpix pictures were quite dull compared to the Lumix ones.

So…what do you think? I really like photography and would love to have more of an excuse to practise my skills, and I think I’ve found the perfect excuse!

What camera have you got?  Let me know in the comments!

Lots of Love,

Lottie ♥

How To Make Notebook/Binder Labels In Microsoft Word

Hi guys, bit of a techy post today! As the beginning of school is nearing, I’m all into the stationery buying! But this can get a liiiiiittle expensive sometimes. £25 for a ring binder? No thanks. So here is a way to accessorise your binders or notebooks, simple!

1. Open up Microsoft Word

2. Find a background you would like to use for your label. You can use Google Images to find cool patterns! Try something like ‘tribal pattern’ and save it to your computer.

 3. Go back onto Word and insert a shape from the ‘INSERT’ bar.

 4. Double click on the shape and under the option ‘Shape Fill’ choose ‘Picture’

5. Choose your preferred background from your computer files. Double click and your shape should now have a funky background!

 6. Next insert another shape into your current shape and play around with the size to find what fits best. Make the ‘Shape Fill’ white.

 7. You can either type into the white shape or insert a text box into the white shape. I prefer inserting a text box because you have more options on where you want to place the text. The font I used was ‘AR CHRISTY’ and to do the ♥ you press ‘Alt’ and ‘3’ on your keyboard. But you have to use the numbers that look like a keypad rather than the numbers above the letters otherwise it doesn’t work (well, it didn’t for me anyway!) TOP TIP: Drag the text box out the edge of the white shape then align it in the centre. This way you know it will be EXACTLY in the centre of the white shape!

Aviary Photo_130517069785535571And there you have it! Personalised labels! You could print them out on sticker paper or just print on normal paper and glue on to your notebook/binder/folder/llama. Ok, maybe not llama. Or you could keep it on your computer and use it as your Twitter icon or something snazzy like that. Anyways, I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and remember to come back soon for my new post!

TOP TIP: Group all the shapes together to make it easier to move them about. Just simply hold down the left click on your mouse and drag over the shapes, right-click and there should be an option to group!

Are you going to try this out? Do you know any other ways to accessorise your school supplies? Let me know in the comments!

July Favourites 2014

Hello everyone! How are you all doing? I’m absolutely LOVING this gorgeous weather we’re having here in England at the moment, fingers crossed it lasts all the way through the summer!

Today I have my July favourites to share with you, it’s been a busy month but I’ve enjoyed it a lot. So let’s get started!

Vivien’s Heavenly Ice Cream Shop – Abby Clements

I am in LOVE with this book at the moment! It’s the perfect summer read and after reading it I may or may not have started looking at ice cream makers and flights to Thailand and Florence…hehe. It’s got such a pretty cover, it caught my eye straight away! I found it at the charity shop for only a pound, but it still had the old W H Smith sticker on it which only said £1.95! It’s about two sisters who come together to manage an ice cream shop passed onto them from their Granny Vivien. It’s a lovely easy read and I couldn’t recommend it more.

Now THIS bad boy is my favourite bag this month. I got him when I went shopping a few weeks ago (haul, anyone? Lemme know in da comments) in the sale at Sainsbury’s for only £7! (originally £14). I’ve been wanting a bucket bag for ages but they always seem to start at £200 (yes, you did read that right!). I love the colours and it’s actually really spacious inside. The only problems with it are that it’s not very secure with just a drawstring tie and I’m not sure the strap is going to last long. Apart from those cons, it’s a great buy.

Primark summer basics are! These sunglasses and flip flops for only £1 each? Yes please! I actually really like the sunglasses, if I do ever lose them it’s not going to be the end of the world. The flip flops take a little time to wear in, but once they’ve ‘moulded’ around your feet, they’re great for the beach, lake, skydiving (ok, maybe not skydiving – they might fall off). Anyways, they’re definitely some of my summer essentials.

Songs ♫

Here are some of my favourite songs this month –

I Wish – Cher Lloyd

Dreaming – Smallpools

Jammin’ – Bob Marley (gotta love me some reggae reggae!)

I really love this quote. A, because it has the word ‘camera’ in it (I have a tiny obsession with cameras) and B, it actually applies to a few things that have happened to me this month. For example, this blog! Btw, I have no idea who said this quote but I found it and created this pic! Are you proud of me?

Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and I’ll speak to you soon!

Lots of Love,

Lottie ♥
