Lottie’s Life – Gingerbread and Cute Dogs!

Welcome to another addition of Lottie’s Life! Sorry about not doing this series last week, school got pretty busy.So last weekend Grandma came round and we did some Christmassy baking. My mum got this little recipe leaflet with her Prima magazine so we used the gingerbread men recipe and white chocolate and cranberry shortbread. We didn’t have any white chocolate so we had to use dark chocolate, but both recipes tasted AMAZING!

The shortbread didn’t exactly stay as Christmas trees and snowflakes…but heyho.

On Saturday 22nd we went round our friend’s house. And I may or may not have brought my camera round so I could take some photos of their adorable Cocker Spaniel Hugo….course not. Obviously, I had to sneak in a couple of Poppy (my dog, also a Cocker Spaniel). Enjoy…

DIY Christmas/Winter Mood Board

Gooooood morning/afternoon/evening my lovely ones. Today we have a DIY to get you in the Christmassy mood. What do you mean it’s too early for Christmas?! I swear some Youtubers had their decs up in October. Anyways, back to my point. This DIY is a mood board with a Winter theme. It’s so easy to do, yet so effective! So, have a jolly good go at making one and if you want, send me a pic on my Twitter or Facebook! In a while, crocodile….

I was getting a bit bored of my quote on my blackboard (yes that is Remi Ashten’s quote 😉 ) and I was feeling a bit creative, this is what happened! I really like how it brings all the loveliness of Christmas/Winter/Fashion/Instagram-edited-photos into one!

Christmas/Winter Magazine – White/Blue Tack – Scissors – Plain Board

*I used my old black board but as it’s not a permanent DIY, you can use pretty much anything. For example a photo frame, canvas, paper…

1. Start by cleaning your surface. I literally just used some wet tissue to wipe off the blackboard pen (if you’re feeling confused, it’s a white board that’s black, just to clear things up). Let dry naturally or dry with dry tissue.

2. Search through all your December issues of magazines for Winter photos! Most of mine came from a House of Fraser gift guide which came from my InStyle magazine and a local magazine from when I went on holiday to the New Forest.

3. Rip, and cut and rip and cut! As you go along, try to place the cut pictures on your surface so you get an idea on how many more pics you need.

4. TAKE A PHOTO. Honestly, once you’ve picked up all the photos to tack them down, you’ll have no idea where they all went. The photo will really help when you get completely lost!

5. Tack them down with a bit of tack (obviously). Try have pics overlapping each other, looks much more Pinteresty (and we all want that, don’t we?!)

TA DAH! How easy was that? I had some nails on the wall already so hanging up was pretty easy. To add a little extra, you could drape fairy lights round it. But be warned, cutting up magazines does make quite a lot of mess…

Ignore that…

Hope you enjoyed this DIY, if you try it out send me a pic on my twitter or facebook. Toodle pops!

Perfect Porridge Recipe

Hi, lovely people. Today we have one of my favourite Winter breakfasts, the lovely porridge. You can change the flavour of this in so many ways, some which I will list under the recipe. T’is an old one this one, my great-grandma’s recipe (that is why it is done in cups) Okey dokey, et’s GET THIS PARTY STARTED.

1/4 cup oats (old fashioned ones NOT quick oats)

1/4 cup and a dash of milk (I use semi-skimmed)

1/4 cup and a dash of water

Pinch of salt

Place all ingredients in a microwave bowl, no need to stir unless you want to. Place in microwave for a minute, then do it in 10-20 second shots until there is not much liquid left. Mixing will make the porridge absorb the water. Mine actually took 1min 30secs. You could do this on the hob but I find the microwave easier. Done!

Some topping ideas:

Demerara sugar and cinamon (one of my favourites!)

Apple/apple sauce and cinamon

Cocoa powder and banana

Frozen berries and sugar/Stevia

Pumpkin spice

Double cream

As you can see…some are healthier than others! I love to eat this for breakfast as it takes hardly any time to make and is very filling and keeps you fuelled for the day ahead!

What are your favourite toppings for porridge?

Lottie’s Life – Spirit of Christmas Fair!

Well hello, lovely internet friends. Surprised to see me? Yay! That’s because I’m starting a new series on mt blog, Lottie’s Life It’s basically a mid-week diary from the last week that I’ll post on Wednesday. This week’s issue (doesn’t that sound posh?!) is about a recent fair I went to. I probably won’t do this intro every week, just crack on with the show, but I thought I’d explain this week why I popped up out of the blue 🙂

Soooooo on Sunday 9th November my mum and I headed to the train station to catch a train to London! We were so lucky, the train was pretty busy so we were standing in the ‘corridor’ and one of the train guards walked past and said we could sit in First Class. I was very excited, to put it mildly. Plus there was only one other guy sat in our carriage, so we basically had the whole section to ourselves! When we got to Paddington we took the tube to the Olympia in Kensington. The Olympia is basically a huuuuuge venue for special events. My mum had somehow wangled us free tickets to the Travel Fair which meant we could also go into the Spirit of Christmas Fair.

Firstly we went into the Travel Fair, which was ok but a lot of the holidays advertised were like super duper 5* at-least-£300-a-night places so that didn’t really appeal to us. But on the plus side, we did get to enter lots of competitions to win holidays! We also had our free drinks in the posh champagne bar, where this fancy French guy explained to me the different flavours of Belvoir. You know, the usual.

THEN. And that’s a big then. We went over to the Spirit of Christmas Fair which was fantastic! We started off by walking around the food section on the higher level. We tested a lot of the samples, and all were delicious! Sadly I forgot to take any photos at this point, sorry.

After the food section we headed down to the gifts etc. There were a lot of stands! Obviously my favourites were the Christmas ones. We stayed there for a couple hours before heading out of the venue for some lunch! We found this Persian restaurant  called YAS (I think). I ordered the chicken open sandwich and it was HUGE! But, very yummy all the same 😉 My mum had these lamb things, but I didn’t get to try it as I don’t eat lamb.

After lunch we headed back into the fair and looked around a few more stalls. But how cool is this dress that was on display?!

At the end of the day a lot of the stalls started doing really good bargains. I got these macaroon ornaments for £1 for three and these little mushroom decorations that said 2 for £1 but the guy gave me an extra one for free! Thank you random stranger!

Well that was a pretty perfect day – Christmas, shopping, London and FOOD all wrapped into one! I really enjoyed it, I’m relly grateful that I am able to go to places like this. What were you up to last week? Let me know!

Lots of Love,

Lottie ♥

October Favourites 2014

Well helloooooooo lovely people. We have my monthly favourites for you to read today. I know everyone says this but how quickly has October gone this year?!?! I swear I’ve only just pulled my school stuff together for the first day of this school year! Today I have some ever so lovely stuff for you to feast your eyes upon, so let’s go go go!!!

lotsoflovelottieblogoctfavs4This scarf has so many lovely colours in it! I like it for autumn/winter as it adds some colour to outfits. I managed to get it from a county show for £5 but here is something similar.

This body shower cream is sooooo moisturising! It smells like heaven and it feels thick, but isn’t, if you know what I mean. I love using it as a shaving cream on my legs as it smooths and softens your skin. You can purchase it here from Boots for £3.99.

PUMPKIN PATCHES. Need I say more? My family and I went to a Pick Your Own in Devon when we were on holiday on Halloween. The sun was shining, it was warm and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. And, we got three ‘authentic’ pumpkins for £2.36! I much prefer these pumpkins to supermarket ones as they are all different and not the same boring size. And, how cool are those green pumpkins?!?! We carved them when we got home, such good fun.

I love these fairy lights from Primark. The white lights were only £1.50 and the hearts £3! I’ve currently got them along my day bed and I think they look really pretty!

Paris In Four Months

Carin from Paris In Four Months is such an amazing blogger. Her photography skills are fantastic and gosh, she really makes me want to hop on the first plane to Paris. She shows Paris through ways that you might not see – little cafés, hidden courtyards, beautiful architecture…it’s incredible! Check out her blog, Instagram and Facebook.

The Mother We Share – CHVRCHES

Dreadlock Holiday – 10cc

Superlove – Charli XCX

I am love love LOVING Cath Kidston at the moment. Their autumn floral range is gorgeous and I tried on a green sparkly sweater from their winter range the other day and it was perfect! Shame about the £38 price tag though, but that’s what the sale is for, right? Here’s the website.

Soooooo did you enjoy that? How cute are those pumpkins?!?! If you want to check out my other favourites posts, here is July’s, August’s and September’s. What were your favourites this month? Let me know in the comments, or  on my Twitter and Facebook.

Lots of Love,

Lottie ♥
